Out And About

2005, CrossCut Records CCD 12009
Sound Service 200805-2

New album, even groovier: Hank Shizzoe surprises with a trio consisting of four musicians. Hawaiian guitars, raw, meatgrinding rock, tender ballads, whorehouse jazz and Switzerland's finest musicians as guests. "Out And About" offers all that and a whole lot more. Handmade rock music on the highest level.

Hank Shizzoe's fifth studio album sounds fresh and timeless. It manages to steer away from the mainstream without really trying too hard and thus displays an effortless beauty and energy that is rarely heard these days. Together with his band The Directors he elegantly moves between tough rock and more subtle, at times even jazzy tunes. The album also offers a first: "Your Luck Will Find You" is an adaption of "Fingt ds Glück eim?", a huge hit by Zueri West, Switzerland's most successful rock band.

Hank Shizzoe relentlessly pursues his search for better songs: "Lyrics and music, studio and stage, they all belong together. I like all those jobs - auhor, guitar player, singer, producer." Ron Kurz again co-produces and engineers. Oli Hartung joins the band as second guitarist. Hank Shizzoe: "After playing with Sonny Landreth we are finally back to the tried and true two-guitars-bass-and-drums-formula. This band has no limits."
